Juriska Legal Systems LimitedFederal Republic of Nigeria

About Juriska

Juriska Limited ("Juriska", "we", "us" or "our") is a Nigerian LegalTech company that provides technology-enabled infrastructure for individuals, businesses, lawyers and law firms.

Through the Juriska platform, users may access lawyer discovery and engagement tools, professional profiles, legal information, document and contract automation, legal research tools, practice-management solutions, business legal-support services, professional communities, artificial intelligence-assisted tools and other technology-enabled legal solutions.

Our Regulatory Position

Juriska operates principally as a technology platform. Juriska is not, merely by operating the Platform, a law firm, court, regulatory body or professional disciplinary authority.

Unless a specific service expressly states otherwise, Juriska does not itself enter into a lawyer-client relationship with a user and does not independently provide courtroom representation or other regulated professional legal services.

Legal services accessed through the Platform are provided by appropriately qualified lawyers or law firms who remain professionally responsible for their work.

Lawyers Remain Independent Professionals

Lawyers and law firms using Juriska remain independent legal professionals. Their presence on the Platform does not make them employees, agents, partners or representatives of Juriska.

They remain responsible for professional competence, client acceptance, conflict-of-interest checks, confidentiality, legal advice, legal strategy, professional fees, court obligations and compliance with Nigerian law and the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2023.

Juriska does not direct or override a lawyer's independent professional judgment.

No Automatic Lawyer-Client Relationship

Creating an account, viewing a lawyer profile, submitting a request, receiving a suggested lawyer, exchanging preliminary messages or initiating a payment does not by itself create a lawyer-client relationship.

A professional relationship begins only when the relevant lawyer or law firm accepts the engagement in accordance with applicable law and professional requirements.

Users should avoid transmitting highly confidential information until the relevant lawyer has confirmed that the matter can be considered and any necessary conflict checks have been completed.

Lawyer Verification

Juriska may verify selected information supplied by lawyers, including identity, enrolment details, year of call, qualifications, law-firm affiliation, practice areas or other professional information.

Verification means that Juriska has taken reasonable steps to confirm specified information through available documents, professional records, authorised databases or other lawful sources.

A Juriska verification indicator is not a guarantee of competence, integrity, suitability, availability or the outcome of any legal matter.

Search, Matching, Reviews and Credibility

Juriska may use practice area, location, availability, experience, verification status, profile completeness, professional development, user feedback, Platform activity and other relevant factors to organise or display legal professionals.

Reviews, badges, endorsements, rankings, credibility indicators and similar features are informational tools intended to support user choice.

They do not amount to a guarantee, professional certification or promise of future performance.

Sponsored or promoted placements will be identified where necessary to avoid creating a misleading impression of neutral ranking.

Contract and Document Automation

Juriska may provide automated tools for preparing contracts, agreements, letters, policies, notices, resolutions and other legal or business documents.

Outputs are generated substantially from information and selections supplied by the user.

Users are responsible for ensuring that their inputs are accurate and that the final document reflects their intended transaction.

Complex, high-value, unusual or regulated transactions may require review by a qualified lawyer before reliance or execution.

Artificial Intelligence and Automated Tools

Juriska may use artificial intelligence, machine learning and other automated technologies to assist with legal research, drafting, summarisation, document analysis, contract review, information retrieval and workflow support.

AI-assisted output can contain errors, omissions, incomplete reasoning or outdated information. It does not replace qualified professional judgment.

Lawyers using Juriska's AI tools remain responsible for legal work delivered to clients.

Juriska may apply human review, technical controls and feature-specific safeguards where appropriate.

Privacy and Data Protection

Juriska processes personal data in accordance with applicable Nigerian data-protection law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and applicable implementation directives and guidance of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Our Privacy Policy explains the categories of personal data we process, the purposes and lawful bases of processing, disclosures to service providers, retention, security, international transfers where applicable, data-subject rights and available complaint channels.

Juriska applies data minimisation and proportionate technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the Platform.

Confidentiality and Legal Professional Privilege

Juriska recognises that legal matters may contain sensitive, confidential and commercially important information.

However, communications sent to Juriska as a technology company are not automatically protected by legal professional privilege merely because they concern a legal matter.

Whether privilege applies depends on applicable law and the circumstances of the user's relationship with the relevant lawyer.

Lawyers using Juriska remain independently bound by their professional duties of confidentiality.

Consumer Protection and Fair Dealing

Juriska is committed to presenting material information about its products and services in clear and understandable language.

Prices, subscription conditions, material limitations, recurring charges and applicable cancellation or refund conditions will be disclosed at relevant points in the user journey.

Nothing in Juriska's terms or policies is intended to exclude consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 or other applicable Nigerian law.

Fees, Subscriptions and Professional Charges

Juriska may charge disclosed subscription, software, platform, transaction, facilitation or other technology-related fees.

Where an independent lawyer or law firm provides professional legal services, the lawyer's professional fee is distinct from Juriska's technology or platform charge unless expressly stated otherwise.

Professional fees remain subject to applicable Nigerian professional and remuneration requirements.

Juriska will structure its commercial arrangements with legal practitioners in a manner intended to respect applicable professional-conduct requirements.

Payments

Payments made through Juriska may be processed by independent payment-service providers. Users may therefore also be subject to the relevant provider's terms and privacy practices.

Payment facilitation by Juriska does not, by itself, make Juriska the provider of the underlying professional legal service.

Where Juriska introduces any service involving the holding, routing or settlement of client funds, retainers or other monies, the applicable product will be subject to additional terms and compliance controls.

Professional Advertising and Solicitation

Lawyer profiles, visibility tools, sponsored placements, professional content and other promotional features on Juriska must be used consistently with the professional rules applicable to Nigerian legal practitioners.

Lawyers are responsible for ensuring that information they publish is accurate and professionally permissible.

Juriska does not permit knowingly false qualifications, fabricated testimonials, misleading comparisons, guarantees of legal outcomes or other deceptive professional claims.

AML/CFT and Professional Compliance

Nigerian legal practitioners and law firms may have anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing obligations under applicable law and the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2023.

Juriska may provide technology that supports identity, record or workflow processes, but such tools do not transfer a lawyer's professional compliance responsibility to Juriska unless a specific service expressly provides otherwise and is legally structured for that purpose.

Cybersecurity

Juriska applies proportionate technical and organisational measures intended to protect Platform systems and information, including access controls and other security safeguards appropriate to its operations.

No internet-based system can guarantee absolute security.

Users are responsible for protecting their credentials and devices and should promptly report suspected unauthorised account access or security incidents.

Third-Party Services

Juriska may integrate with cloud providers, payment processors, communications services, identity-verification providers, analytics providers, professional databases, artificial intelligence providers and other third-party technology services.

These providers may have separate terms and privacy practices.

Juriska does not represent that an independent third party is controlled by Juriska merely because its technology is integrated into the Platform.

Intellectual Property and User Content

The Juriska Platform, software, interfaces, trademarks, logos, proprietary workflows, databases, original content and other protected technology belong to Juriska or its licensors.

Users retain ownership of lawful documents and content they upload, subject to the limited rights reasonably required for Juriska to host, process, transmit, secure and provide the relevant Services.

Confidential client documents will be handled in accordance with Juriska's applicable privacy, security and contractual obligations.

Electronic Transactions and Acceptance

Juriska may use electronic acceptance mechanisms for account registration, subscriptions, policies, service terms and other digital transactions.

Where affirmative acceptance is required, Juriska may maintain records of the applicable document version, timestamp, account or user identifier and acceptance event.

Electronic records and communications may be relied upon to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Cross-Border Access

The fact that Juriska can be accessed outside Nigeria does not mean that every Service is authorised or appropriate in every jurisdiction.

Legal professionals remain responsible for advising only in jurisdictions in which they are qualified or otherwise permitted to practise.

Juriska may restrict Services geographically or introduce jurisdiction-specific terms as the Platform expands.

Startup and Corporate Status

Juriska may describe itself as a technology startup or LegalTech company where factually accurate.

Corporate registration, participation in a government programme, a startup label, data-protection registration or any similar status does not by itself amount to regulatory endorsement of Juriska's legal services, the competence of lawyers on the Platform, investment quality or any particular product.

Juriska will not represent that it holds a governmental or professional approval that it has not actually obtained.

No Regulatory Endorsement

Unless expressly confirmed in writing by the relevant body, nothing on the Juriska Platform should be understood as stating that Juriska, a lawyer, a ranking, a verification badge, an AI output or a particular legal service has been endorsed by the Corporate Affairs Commission, Nigeria Data Protection Commission, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, National Information Technology Development Agency, Nigerian Bar Association, Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee or any other governmental or professional body.

Complaints and Professional Misconduct

Users may submit complaints about Juriska's Services through Juriska's designated support channels.

Juriska may also investigate alleged misuse of the Platform and restrict or suspend accounts in accordance with its Terms of Service.

Juriska is not the professional disciplinary regulator of Nigerian lawyers.

Allegations of professional misconduct may be referred by affected persons to the appropriate professional or legal authority.

Internal complaint handling does not remove any statutory right to approach a competent regulator, tribunal or court.

No Guarantee of Outcome

Legal and commercial outcomes depend on facts, evidence, law, professional judgment, counterparties, regulators, courts and other circumstances beyond Juriska's control.

Juriska does not guarantee successful litigation, settlements, debt recovery, regulatory approvals, negotiations, transactions or any other legal or commercial result.

A lawyer's verification, ranking, review or presence on Juriska does not amount to a guarantee of outcome.

New and Regulated Features

Juriska is an evolving technology platform. New services may be introduced over time.

Where Juriska introduces materially different features involving regulated payments, client money, dispute resolution, litigation support, electronic execution, identity assurance, cross-border professional services or other specialised activities, additional product-specific terms, disclosures and compliance controls may apply.

Governing Framework

Juriska's operations are designed with regard to applicable Nigerian law and regulatory requirements, including the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018, Legal Practitioners Act, Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2023, applicable legal-practitioner remuneration requirements, Nigeria Startup Act 2022 where relevant, and other laws and regulatory guidance applicable to particular Services.
